[ With the memories of last month lingering in her mind, Marie softens her look when she sees Sanson's message lit over the screen. It's obvious why he's contacting her, the calendar marking the days of Cordis' moon. After what occurred with Cloud, she left the Assassin to have his own space. They all needed a bit of time alone, really.
Enough time has passed and she now can't wait to see his face and touch him once again. ]
I am not busy. Come over when you feel like it.
[ The suggestion of a present from him makes her want to urge him and appear faster at her door. ]
[He can't wait to see her again, either. Though Sanson was a loner and not very social, he did value companionship, and other people in general.
After receiving Marie's reply (he's starting to feel a bit excited even though he also feels like he shouldn't trouble her), Sanson sets out for her place, and she will soon hear a knock on her door.
In his arms are paper bags full of various croissants, slices of cake, and other pastries. He just barely managed to free up a fist to be able to knock on Marie's door.]
[ He doesn't have to wait long before Marie swings the door open with a bit too much enthusiasm. She blinks rapidly at the assortment of food, but the surprise melts off rapidly at the realization he's carrying so much and she should relieve him of at least some of that burden. She smiles brightly. ]
Bonjour, Charles! Here, let me take a few. [ Without waiting for him, she grabs a couple bags and makes her way towards the living room, where the kitchen is also annexed. ]
Please, do close the door! It was lovely of you to bring me all this stuff!
[That enthusiasm is very endearing, and a good sign that perhaps she doesn't feel troubled to let him enter her place. He relaxes when she takes two bags from him, and follows her after closing the door.
He smiles sheepishly.]
It's nothing. I just passed by a cafe...and I thought it would be rude to come here empty-handed.
[Besides, all the stuff was also for him, in case he had a bad case of the munchies while he was with her. Thanks a lot, Cordis.]
[Oh, Sanson did think of Marie's well-being. Which is why only a small percentage of the pastries he bought were sweet or chocolate or cream-filled. The rest were whole wheat, or plain, or otherwise healthy alternatives. But he was more self-indulgent than usual, not to mention very hungry.
That makes him rather embarrassed to admit this openly even though she can figure it out from how he always has a well-stocked cooler whenever they went to the beach.]
Oh...n-no, they're for both of us. [A pause.] A lot of it...is for me. During this cycle.
[At least he still tries to make a conscious effort to eat healthy. Most of the time.]
[ Being Cordis is the most suffering, and that's by now obvious. It's easy to sympathize with their predicament, which Marie does plenty, and she'll be sure to leave most of the sweets for Sanson to enjoy while they're here.
But she'll still claim all of the chocolate filled pastries. ]
I see. Would you like to sit down?
[ She's going to pull the sweets out of the bags and set them onto fancy porcelain plates, also preparing some tea. ]
[Marie, think of your beautiful figure...he'll take some if only to save you because at least his Cordis metabolism can burn all the calories.
Anyway, he nods at her invitation to sit down.]
Merci. [After sitting down on her couch carefully as if not wanting to rumple the cushion covers, he adds:] I did also bring you some tea in those bags, but you can save those tins for another time.
[He just realizes that he's insinuated that he will visit her more often. But there's nothing wrong with checking up on her every now and again, right?]
[ Nope. The best pastries are all hers now! She even goes and gathers them up in a special plate she plans on claiming for herself.
His suggestion also comes on time, since she only had the exact time to put some water to boil. ]
Oh no, I would love to try out your tea! [ She finds the tins and looks over at them, weighing all options in her mind before asking him. ] Is there one kind of tea you would like right now? I am down for all of these.
[ And she won't address the implication, because she knows he'll visit again, and she frankly doesn't mind in the least. ]
[Luckily for Marie, Sanson suspects nothing as she begins setting aside all the sweet pastries on one plate. He had been about to stand up to find the tins of tea for her, but it looks like she already found them.]
There's a black tea blend infused with strawberry, if you'd like to try it...or the one that tastes like a very fruity rosehip tea. I leave the choice up to you.
[ Shuffling around the kitchen, her back turned to him, she calls back cheerfully. ]

[ One thing she loves about living alone is that she's pretty much free to do what she likes with her time. Learning how to cook is one of her new practices nowadays.
She finishes setting the pastries into two separate groups - the majority is for Sanson, while the best ones are reserved for herself - and checks the water, then picks each tin and reads the labels, finding the ones he mentioned. ]
Rosehip? I would love that. [ She places the tin aside and starts neatly setting the rest in a cupboard. ]
[It's so nice to see Marie adjusting well to living on her own - a refreshing sight, after the craziness this world puts them through and after her more flamboyant first life.

You know I always think about your health. Don't push your limits. [His limits were always expanded during his moon cycle, so he isn't being a hypocrite.]
[ Marie keeps pouting, even while adding the filter into the hot water and waiting for it to color, relishing in the scent it produces. ]
I had no idea what a pizza tasted like until you were not around to prevent me from eating it! [ She's pretty much scolding him. ] You saw how I did not grow fat when I returned from the desert island, did you not? I will be fine!
[ Things are not like what they were in Chaldea anymore. She's a strong independent woman now! ]
[Even if she is, in fact, a strong and independent woman who can take care of herself, that doesn't stop Sanson from worrying about her or being protective. Besides, Amadeus (and Salieri) would never forgive him if anything happened to her on his watch.]
Because I'm sure living on a desert island for some time gave you enough exercise. [There are arguments Sanson will gladly drop for Marie, but those involving health and her well-being are a bit harder for him to leave alone. This was not the time to ponder (again) just how they were able to create pizza in the wilderness; really, a lot of things were possible for a bunch of Servants.]
...Besides, knowing Caesar, he might have given you far more than what you should be eating.

[ Cordis is one naughty mistress when it comes to turning people into jokesters. If she can be completely honest, she has yet to get used to Sanson's attitude changing so much during those days. In the end, though, she much prefers him not being sad, even if the shift in personality is definitely not natural on its own.
Marie says nothing until she finally comes up to where Sanson is sitting, placing the tray of tea and sweets on the coffee table, then sitting down daintly next to him and giving him an amiable smile. ]

[Teacup in hand, he gently blows on the tea inside. It smells so fragrant...and already he's itching to take a bite out of his mound of pastries. Her kind words cause him to shift a little in his seat, his face a tickled pink.]

[Normally not one to openly call attention to his cat traits, Sanson reaches up to gesture to his ears. Well, only he and Marie were here now, so he felt a lot less self-conscious. Not to mention, she had seen him this way several times now, even kissed him in this state.]
[ Claiming her own teacup and nearing it to her lips, Marie gives him a kind smile. Those cat ears are still as adorable as ever, and there's the advantage of not being a Cordis and this not being a triple moon cycle, thus making her the regular one here who's more likely to help him without influence. ]
It is nothing we have not done before. Just, this time we are in the tranquillity of my home instead of the beach.
[ Seasons have changed and going to the beach in lighter clothes seems like a distant memory now. She blows over the tea with a sigh, then gives it a taste, and immediately hums in a chirpy tone. ]
[She did have a point. Marie had always been a big help to him during this particular time of the month, whether she was under the influence of Iris or not. Nevertheless, Sanson constantly felt indebted to her, and if she likes the tea he bought for her, then this was a small step toward repaying her. Even if he could technically repay her by assisting him when the Iris cycle comes around.]
